ingredients
- 1 3⁄4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1⁄4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
- 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
- 1 (14 ounce) jar pizza sauce
- 32 small pepperoni slices
directions
- Heat waffle maker with 8-inch-square cooking surface on Medium-High heat setting.
- In medium bowl, mix both cheeses, basil and oregano; set aside.
- In 1 1/2-quart saucepan, heat pizza sauce over low heat, stirring occasionally, until hot. Place in small serving bowl.
- Unroll both cans of dough onto work surface. Separate each crosswise, making four (7-by-6-inch) rectangles; firmly press perforations to seal.
- Place 1 dough rectangle on bottom surface of heated waffle maker, being careful not to open up perforations. Quickly sprinkle 1 cup cheese mixture evenly on top of dough. Place half the slices of pepperoni evenly over cheese mixture. Top with another dough rectangle; close waffle maker. Bake 2 to 3 minutes or until sandwich is golden brown.
- With pancake turner, remove from waffle maker; place on cutting board. Cool 30 seconds before cutting.
- Cut into square sandwiches or triangular snacks.
- Repeat with remaining dough, cheese mixture and pepperoni.
- Serve warm with pizza sauce for dipping.

this was really fun & easy! I used reduced fat crescent rolls. some of the rolls I used the pepperoni in, some I used some thinly sliced grilled eggplant that I made and some I just did as "cheese". I used fresh pesto for seasoning rather than the dried herbs. Everyone really enjoyed this! thanks for the post!

What a great idea! Easy to make. I made these and they were gone as fast so I made some more the following day. The second time I made them I divided the cheese and put some under the pepperoni and some on top worked out better. They are very flaky and tasty they even taste good cold. They would be good in lunchboxes. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Made for PAC07

I am 36 years old and the mother of four wonderful children. Two girls and two boys. ?Being a stay-at-home mom affords me ample time to indulge my passion for cooking and baking! (Thanks again to my wonderful husband!) My oldest daughter loves to help in the kitchen and wants to eat what she cooks, so that's helping broaden her eating horizons! My youngest daughter is still pretty picky, but we're dealing! Thank goodness my husband is gracious enough to eat whatever I cook. (I guess he knows that if he complains, he'll be asked to do the cooking himself!!)
