  1. Heat milk and shortening over low heat until temperature reaches 120°F to 130°F
  2. Combine 11/2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt in bowl; set aside.
  3. Slowly beat milk mixture into flour mixture until well blended.
  4. Beat in eggs and 1 cup flour.
  5. Beat 2 minutes, scraping down sides of bowl.
  6. Stir in enough additional flour, about 11/4 cups, to make a soft dough.
  7. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes; add more flour, if necessary, to prevent sticking.
  8. Shape dough into a ball.
  9. Place in oiled bowl; turn over to oil surface. Cover; let rise in warm place until double in size, about 1 hour.
  10. Punch down dough.
  11. Knead on floured surface 1 minute. Cover with towel; let rest for 10 minutes.
  12. Grease two 8-inch square baking pans. Divide dough in half.
  13. Reserve one half; cover.
  14. Shape one half into 12 balls.
  15. Place in 1 prepared pan. Repeat with remaining dough.
  16. Cover; let rise in warm place until double in size, about 30 minutes.
  17. Preheat oven to 375°F
  18. Bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Remove immediately from pans.
