Waxy Oatmeal Cookies

"found this cookie "receipt" in an old cookbook from the 1940"s..reportedly there was an old bakery in New York where these cookies originated...when rolled in powdered sugar BEFORE baking, it does give the appearance of a waxy coating..."

  1. These tasted great. But I had to add extra liquid to get the dough to hold together. They didn't come out looking waxy in my opinion either. I also had a hard time getting the cook time right. I think we ended up leaving them in for 15 minutes. And we also had to roll them smaller than walnuts or they didn't spread very well. And I found that the ones that I did on an ungreased tray actually turned out better. They seemed to spread more evenly. I am rating them 4 stars because the flavour was so good. But I would give the dough 3 stars due to difficulty.
