Wedding Cake Frosting

"I got this recipe some place on the internet. It makes a nice buttercream frosting for wedding cakes. I really like this frosting recipe it does taste just like basic wedding cake frosting. You can use dark vanilla extract but it will discolor the frosting."

  1. Delicious frosting! I used this on a basic white cake for a birthday party...really good! Thanks for sharing.

  2. I would have given this recipe 5 stars, but the directions are a bit lacking and I had to throw out my first attempt and Google solutions for my issues. First, the butter should be at room temp and creamed alone first. Then add the vanilla and milk. I also suggest to specify the milk be at room temp also. But not all at once. I found my icing to be too thin for my needs and had to add more powdered sugar. Luckily, I had plenty on hand. I also made other alterations. I did a mix of butter and shortening since this will be arrived at an outdoor wedding and expecting 90 degree weather. I also cut back the vanilla and added some almond extract. Delicious.

I love food and I love to eat and try different recipes. My favorite course is dessert. I love sweets! This leads me to that I did have Gastric Bypass surgery on July 25th 2008. On that note I love baking and cooking a priceless gift passed down from my grammy who I dearly loved and miss deeply. My grammy passed away 1/15/07. She was a wonderful cook and baker and taught me many things and the most valueable things was how to be a wonderful cook and baker like her.
