ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄3 cup oil
- 1 cup cold water
directions
- grease and flour 8 by 8 inch pan. double the recipe for 9 by 13 inch pan.
- combine dry ingredients in bowl.
- add liquid ingredients gradually, beating until smooth (starting on low and increasing to high). beat about 5 minutes.
- bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
- toothpick test.
- enjoy!

This is the exact recipe my mom always used when i was growing up. And is still my favorite chocolate cake ever! I just made it in the form of a full sheet cake for my Daughter's Birthday! Everyone raved! I did not know it had a name though, until a friend of mine said this is what it was called when she was growing up! so thanks for posting!
