  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 12 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 12 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2 14 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces white baking chocolate, coarsely chopped or 8 ounces white chocolate chips
  • 1 13 cups slivered almonds (6 oz.) or 1 1/3 cups chopped almonds

directions

  • With an electric mixer cream the butter & sugar in a large bowl. Add the eggs one at a time until well blended. Add the almond extract.
  • In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda, & salt. Gradually beat flour mixture into the butter mixture until well blended. Stir in white chocolate chips & almonds.
  • Drop cookies in heaping tablespoonfuls about 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet & bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.
  • Let cookies cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • These cookies freeze well.

  2. This recipe did not turn out at all. My first batch essentially was a melted pool of butter when I removed from the oven... I added an additional cup of flour to see if the cookie would hold and it did a bit more. Nonetheless, the cookie was FAR too buttery for me. The cookie will not hold unless you double the flour.

<p>I absolutely love to bake. I try new recipes all the time. <br /> <br />I live in Michigan &amp; enjoy it in the Spring, Summer, &amp; Fall. I'm not a fan of the Winter (after New Year's I'm ready for Spring). <br /> <br />I love being outside in the warmer months (hiking, walking, camping). I also like movies, football and reading a good book. <br /> <br />My favorite cookbook is Better Homes and Gardens - I've had it for years and use it a lot (some pages are so dirty you can hardly read them and the book is falling apart). <br /> <br />I try to eat healthy and stay in shape but just like everyone I have my slip-ups &amp; sweets are my weakness.</p>
