  • preheat oven at 350.
  • cream shortening.
  • add eggs and vanilla.
  • sift together the dry ingredients.
  • add dry ingredients to the shortening mixture alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredient drop by T on a greased cookie sheet.
  • bake 15 minutes.
  • cool.
  • Filling: Mix all the filling ingredients together.
  • spread a tsp (or a little more) on a cookie.
  • top with another cookie.
  • enjoy.
  • makes 2 dozen cookies.

  1. This is fantastic! I just used the cookie part - I had made pumpkin whoopie pies and those had a cream cheese frosting filling. I had some filling left over and wanted to try "real" whoopie pies so I made these. They were soooooooo good! I made the cookies fairly small and cooked them for about 12 minutes. The frosting was very sweet, and these had less sugar than some recipes I looked at. The combination is perfect!
