Wookie Cookies

"Great for a party or any old day of the week. These are sure to please any Star Wars fan. Two kinds of chocolate and the addition of cinnamon make them rather addictive. The recipe comes from "The Star Wars Cookbook: Wookie Cookies and Other Galactic Recipes""

directions

• Preheat the oven to 375º. Put the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
• Stir with the wooden spoon until well mixed. Set aside.
• Put the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in another mixing bowl. Using the electric mixer set on high speed, beat together until well blended and creamy, about 3 minutes.
• Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture and stir with the wooden spoon until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips.
• Scoop up a rounded tablespoonful of the dough and drop onto a baking sheet.
• Repeat until you have used up all the dough. Be sure to leave about 1 inch between the cookies because they spread as they bake.
• Using pot holders, put the baking sheets in the oven. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
• Again, using pot holders, remove the baking sheets from the oven. Lift the cookies from the baking sheets with a spatula, and place on cooling racks.
• Let cool completely. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

1. I saw this recipe in a Star Wars cookbook and have been wanting to try these out for a while, and finally had time to tonight. They were pretty good, but I think next time I make these, I'll be adding more cinnamon. What can I say, I love cinnamon :) The only things I did different were: I used salted butter (that's what we had) and didn't use any other salt with the recipe. I also used semi-sweet chocolate chunks instead of the morsels. They were a smidgeon too rich for me when they were warm, they taste great cooled off though. The BF really seemed to like them and will be taking them in his lunches :) Thanks for posting this recipe!

2. These were wonderful!!! You can see from the pictures that they really flattened out, but that is most likely my fault. (Every single Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe I try comes out that way, no matter what I do!!! But I digress.) The flavor was perfect, and the cinnamon was just a lovely background note rather than a predominant flavor like I thought it might be. They were CHEWIE in the center and lightly crisp on the edges. I subbed white chocolate chips for the semisweet because I love my sugary sweetness! Other than that, made as directed. May the Fork be with you...

3. My entire family is filled with star wars fans! I purchased this cook book for my 9 yr old nephew and these cookies have easily become a family favorite! He actually called me at 11pm lastnite to see if I could make some today. I compared this recipe to other basic chocolate chip ones and this has way more flavor! Everyone needs a wookie cookie in their lives!

4. I really do like that hint of cinnamon in the background. Mine were little cakey nuggets, they did not spread out. I replaced 1 cup of chips with 1 cup of walnuts.

5. Wow, these are delicious!!! My 4 year old is already a Star Wars fan so I had to try this recipe. I baked mine for 9 minutes as I like my a bit 'Chewy'...haha Thank-you for sharing!!!

3. These were absolutely awesome! I used butterscotch chips in place of the milk chocolate chips since I didn't have any. They are the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever eaten.

4. I am very excited to see this recipe posted! (I was about to do it myself if I didn't find it here.) I have been making these for years and get requests for them ALL of the time. The MOST delicious chocolate chip cookies out there. Some variations I have made over the years was to add nuts and to use peanut butter chip instead of milk chocolate. However, my suggestion for choco-liscious Wookie cookies is to replace the cup of semi-sweet chips with semi-sweet chocolate chunks! YUM-MY!

A picture of me and my dear friend Liz. I'm on the left. I live in Blacksburg, Virginia with my husband and 3 young children, and one fat cat. I'm a stay at home Mom of an 8 year old girl, 5 year old boy, and 2 year old girl. They are all stinky rotten but I am terribly attached to them. Plus, they do put up with me. I guess I'll keep them. Dinner preparation can be challenging with my toddler hanging on my leg but I still try to make a really nice meal. I enjoy cooking so much and though I could turn to more convenience foods to help me out, I just don't like to. My food is a source of pride for me. Some of my best memories are of my Mom in the kitchen. So, let the laundry pile up and the dust accumulate because I am spending my time in the kitchen. I live in a close knit community and have an excellent support network of other Moms. There are a lot of good cooks in the bunch so there is a lot of recipe swapping. My MOPS group just sent a cookbook to the printer to make it back by the holidays. I helped with the editing. Blacksburg may be small but the presence of Virginia Tech ensures that we have a constant ebb and flow of folks from all over the place. Small town meets global world. I'm originally from Indiana where I was raised to love basketball but have transitioned over to Hokie football. Sometimes our town IS that football team. Certainly, I love the tailgating and I feel at home among the ever present sea of orange and maroon. I love this place. If I am eating out in Blacksburg, I'm most likely to be seen at Gillies's for breakfast, Cabo Fish Taco for lunch, and the Cellar for dinner. RecipeZaar is the cooking site I visit most. I can almost always find what I am looking for here. The reviews and ratings are so helpful. The folks here seldom let me down. I have accumulated quite a recipe collection from you all. Thank you! I find myself in the natural foods section of the grocery more and more these days. I have been gradually weaning the family off of processed foods. I can't fathom becoming a vegetarian anytime soon so we buy organic beef from a local farmer. It's great stuff and we get it at a good price. I've been cooking with whole grains and fresh produce more often lately. I am trying my hand at making my own mayo and ketchup. I went in with a friend to purchase a grain mill to mill our own grains into flour. I look forward to gaining more experience in bread making. Want to try grain soaking. My favorite cookbooks are my old Fanny Farmer and Good Housekeeping, a 1990 edition of the NY Times cookbook, and an Amish cookbook by Marcia Adams. I still love my sweets. I tell myself that if I make it from scratch and I use more organic and raw ingredients, that it's OK. Not exactly healthy but an improvement. I do find that many of the desserts I used to like are just too sweet for me anymore. This has put me on a quest to update or replace some of the recipes I've had for a long time. Other interests of mine include children's literature, cardmaking, writing, afternoon naps. the art of Charles Harper & Audrey Kawasaki, craftsman houses, and tournament-style Scrabble. Autumn is my favorite season. Few things please me more than the fall's crisp air, leaves dancing around in a cascade of colors, and my glorious friends the pumpkins. The Blue Ridge Mountains are perfect. Plenty of trails locally and in the mountains to do lots of nature walks.
