ingredients
- 1000 ml passata
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- chili flakes, your choice I use 2 tsp
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 -5 tablespoons tomato sauce, preferably heinz
directions
- Add oil to hot pan, add both chilli flakes and garlic and fry for 20 seconds until garlic is brown and oil is fragrant.
- Reduce heat to medium and add passata and all other ingredients.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour minimum, the longer the better!
- This sauce is great with meatballs! Very versatile and can be adapted to suit your tastes. maybe add a splash of white wine. For US users, if you cannot source Heinz tomato sauce i reccomend using 1-2 tbsp of caster sugar.
