Yummy Babe Ruth Bars

"A recipe for Babe Ruth bars, a little different than the one I already saw posted here on Zaar. These are easy and good--I've made them for church functions, and they were always a hit."

 1. They're good but nothing like the candy bar.

 2. This was very yummy. I didn't have any trouble with dryness. I even used 7 cups of cornflakes! I mixed the cereal and pb mixture first and added the peanuts and Chocolate chips just before I pressed them into the pan. The bars were very moist, easy to cut and delicious. I buttered the pan and they just slid out! I feel good about giving my family cereal bars for snacks. This one is a keeper! Thank you!

 3. I made these today for PAC 06. They turned out ok the only problem was that when I cut them into squares so much of the "under lying" stuff (cereal, peanuts, chips) did not get cut with the bar it only "grabbed the very top part of the dry mixture". there was not enough "moisture" to hold the whole thing together, therefore it left so much of the dry mixture still laying in the bottom of the pan. If I made these again I would maybe half the recipe, place it in a 8x8 pan and I would mix a little of the caramel "sauce" in with the corn flakes so it would hold it together. All in all it was a good tasting square though.

I currently live in West Virginia. I have two daughters, 10 and 7 yrs. I teach 4th grade at the small elementary school that they attend.

Shortly before the birth of my youngest daughter, I started becoming interested in cooking, with great thanks to this site. I love trying new things. I used to collect cookbooks, and I still have quite a few, but since I've been a member of food.com, I have to admit that I don't use them much anymore. This is so much easier!

In addition to cooking, I enjoy spending time with my girls, reading, and shopping. I'm also a big Virginia Tech fan, hence my user name. It's where I went to school, so my loyalty lives on!
