  • Cook first 5 ingredients with the juice from the clams.
  • Cook gently until potatoes are tender.
  • Add clams.
  • Mix milk and flour.
  • Stir into soup.
  • Cook and stir until thickened.
  • Add butter.

  1. Very good, basic clam chowder. I thought the texture was just right, but it could hae used more flavor. I would add some herbs and/or spices next time (like thyme or parprika for example). Overall, this was enjoyable and easy to make. Thanx!
     
  2. I sauteed the onions first, then did the rest. Added the clams at the last and 2/3 the amount of milk for a slightly thicker soup. My canned clams had some grit to them, not lovin' that. But, the flavor was good. Enjoyable but I'm not sure I would make it again because of the grit, not the recipes fault I suppose.
     
  3. This was a really great chowder. Not too clammy & not to milky. I did add cooked & crumbled bacon as that's the way mom made fresh clam chowder growing up, but other than that made as directed. I served it with Recipe #211925. Thank you for posting, MizzNezz!
     
  4. I loved this so much. Easy, yummy and not terribly bad for you. If you want, you can use reduced fat milk and I can't believe it's not better and it' STILL delicious.

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
