Kiwi fruit
The kiwi fruit looks like a large brown egg with a covering of fine downy hair. The flesh is a brilliant green spattered with tiny edible black seeds. Some say its sweet-tart flavor is reminiscent of pineapple, others say strawberry. Kiwi is native to the Yangtze Valley in China and was first commercially developed in New Zealand where the kiwi fruit name was adopted, replacing Chinese gooseberry.
