Dunkin' Donuts Releases a Solstice Beer
For the darkest day of the year, a dark, roasted coffee brew.

Winter is coming on Thursday, and the season of darkness will reach its peak. The 21st is the longest day of the year, when Seasonal Affective Disorder grasps us and leaves us begging for a little more light. However will we make it through the day?
Dunkin’ Donuts had an idea: if beer has been proven to boost our moods and coffee can keep us awake even when our circadian clocks are telling us to sleep, why not mix the two for a rich happiness brew with a nutty, creamy finish?
Especially for the solstice, Dunkin’ Donuts is partnering with Wormtown Brewery in Worcester, Massachusetts, to make the DDark Roasted Brew—the first beer to be officially brewed with roasted coffee beans from Dunkin’. The beer will be available on tap exclusively at the Wormtown Brewery’s tap room, and pours will begin after a ceremony at 11:28 a.m.—the exact moment of the solstice. Customers will also be able to try out doughnut pairings that complement the beer.
The brewery, in conjunction with a local Dunkin’ franchise, will be donating a total of $11,500 of the proceeds to the Worcester Food Bank.

"We're confident this beer is going to be an instant favorite for New Englanders this holiday season, and the fact that we're able to give back to Worcester-area families through this partnership just makes it that much better."
