Oreo may have made news recently for its Kettle Corn and Cherry Cola flavors, but for its Chinese market, the brand is upping the heat.

In a curious move for the sweet snack food category, Mondelez International—parent company to Oreo—announced last week in a tweet that it had just launched two new flavors: Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi.

“Innovation sensation,” wrote the team at Mondelez, “@Oreo just launched two new BIG and BOLD flavors in #China: Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi!”

Unfortunately for the obsessed Oreo cookerati, the flavors aren’t expected to become available to the rest of the world anytime soon. The U.S., thankfully, has plenty of new flavors to choose from. Cherry Cola, Kettle Corn and Piña Colada were released as part of the brand’s new-flavor contest, while State Fair Oreos were meant to take you to fried food paradise in the comfort of your home.

If you’re still having a hard time wrapping your mind around a wasabi-flavored cookie, you’re not alone.

“Chocolate cookie with wasabi? Individually they're great,” wrote Jacob Wilcox in response to the announcement. “Put together, that's a war crime.”

Some people just can’t handle the heat.
