Sacramento Chick-fil-A Announces New Starting Wage of $17 Per Hour

Turns out fast food can be lucrative, if you know where to look. Yet while it could take you years to work your way up to In-N-Out Burger’s $160,000-per-year managerial salary, those at the bottom rung need only look to California for a solid hourly wage.
At one Chick-fil-A in Sacramento, a franchise owner is looking for “hospitality professionals” and is willing to pay them well for their hard work, with a starting hourly wage ranging from $17 to $18 dollars per hour.
Beginning June 4th, the store will open its application portal to those who are interested. No experience is required, and workers can expect perks ranging from paid sick leave to college scholarships. The fast food chain is famously always closed on Sundays.
Eric Mason, the owner and operator of the Madison Avenue location that is hiring, spoke with local news station ABC 10 about his decision, saying that employees are “the real key component to successful businesses.”
Minimum wage in California is currently $11 per hour, though the rate will rise $0.50 each year until 2020, when it will be set at $15 per hour. Mason claims that he would have raised his employee’s wages regardless. He acknowledges that sustaining the increases will be a challenge, but he believes it is worth it, and the corporate offices are backing him up.
His current employees will also get a raise to his new minimum pay rate of $17 per hour when he starts hiring on June 4th, and employees at “leadership levels” will also receive paid time off.
