How to Make Mojitos
Minty and refreshing drinks for summertime, anytime.
When it comes to mojitos, it's all about that mint! And the lime. And the rum, of course. A refreshingly delicious and traditional Cuban cocktail, mojitos are a simple mix of just five basic ingredients—mint, fresh lime juice, sugar, white rum and sparkling water. The lime, sugar and mint are muddled together in the glass itself to release all the wonderfully flavorful oils from the mint leaves. The cocktail is then topped off with ice, a shot of rum, and sparkling water to create one invigorating and thirst-quenching drink. Grab a handful of mint and mix one up today!
1 Place Mint, Sugar & Lime in a Glass
Place 6 – 8 fresh mint leaves, 2 teaspoons granulated sugar and the juice of half a large lime in a tall, sturdy highball glass.
2 Muddle Mint
With a muddler or the back of a sturdy spoon, press and gently twist the mint leaves against the side of the glass, releasing the oils from the mint leaves. Stop muddling when the mint is bruised and fragrant, but not yet torn. Tearing the mint can create a bitter tasting mojito.
3 Add Rum
Add 3 ounces of white rum.
4 Finish with Ice & Club Soda
Fill the glass 3/4 full with ice cubes or crushed ice. Fill the remainder of the glass with sparkling water or club soda and stir thoroughly.
5 Garnish
Garnish with lime wedges and mint, serve and enjoy!
