Mermaid Animal Cake Popsicles

Fin-tastic beauties will be the talk of the town.

Prepare the cake mix

Funfetti will make these mermaids gorgeous inside and out.

Popsicle molds aren't just for the freezer

Using a piping bag, fill the molds half full and then insert a popsicle stick into each. Pro tip: Spray the molds liberally with nonstick spray to avoid sticking.

bake & cool the cake pops

For #flawless desserts allow the cake popsicles to cool for at least 15 minutes before gently removing from the molds and transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Give the pops a colorful coat

Dip the pops in candy melts, designating a different color for each animal.

Now for the dainty decor

Using fondant, shape the ears and arms for the bunnies, rabbits and cats.

Fondant makes for petite animal paws

Each fondant decoration can be attached to the cake pops with melted candy melts.

Place Ears and Arms onto the cake pops

Now they're starting to look like animals!

Painting Time

Create each animal feature, like the fins and faces, using a toothpick dipped in candy melts.

Getting a little personality

Use the same color candy melt as is covering the cake pop to attach the decor.

Give a Face to the Pops

Place the black candy melt eyes, nose and ears on the cake pops to make these adorable-as-heck faces for each animal.

Make Vanilla Buttercream

Beat softened butter on medium speed until the butter is light and fluffy. Add the vanilla, powdered sugar and milk and mix until airy.

Light as a cloud

Divide the fluffy buttercream into three bowls to dye them three pastel hues, like blue purple and pink.

Make these cute creatures into colorful mermaids

Pipe large round dots, in alternating colors, across the top of each pop to create the mermaid tail.

Perfect pastel Scales

Then use the back of a spoon to drag the frosting up towards the top of the animal. Continue piping and dragging the frosting as you go, alternating the colors, and slightly overlapping each row.

A Mermaid Needs her fins

Attach the candy melt fin to the bottom of her buttercream tail, pressing it in, so it stays.

Now she can swim

Repeat the piping of the tail with each animal pop to create your own mermaid menagerie.

Ready for their close up

Sweet and smiling, and perfect for any summer party.

Sweet as Can Be

Embrace your inner mermaid and make these majestic cake pops.
