10-Minute Valentines Candies

"These gorgeously gourmet candies only take 3 ingredients and a few minutes of work! I was going to make a kind of peppermint bark for my friends (it was such a hit during the holidays), but they morphed into these once I realized I had no candycanes. Just as delicious!"

directions

  • Melt the white chocolate and shortening in a double-boiler (or the microwave, if you're extremely careful not to burn!).
  • Pour onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper. Drop a few drops of red food coloring onto the chocolate, scattered around. Swirl the coloring with a fork.
  • Once the chocolate is starting set (you'll know because it won't be so shiny), you can take a toothpick and cut out heart shapes. They might look kind of messy, but you can clean them up once they're removed. Once dry, break up the chocolate around the hearts. Enjoy!

  1. Such a genius idea! I used 12 oz white chocolate chips and 3 tablespoons shortening. Also added 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Instead of using toothpick, I cut the cookies with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. They turned out so lovely. Thanks for this amazing candy recipe!

  2. These turned out pretty despite the vague directions and misleading name...I used 12 ounces of white chocolate to the 2 tbsps of crisco, this ratio seemed to work well. I also added a few drops of cherry flavoring to the red food coloring. The chocolate set pretty quickly, but the darker and thicker (and prettier) swirls of red color took much longer to dry. I did not attempt to cut out hearts, but instead broke the candy up into slabs. I like that this was easy, fairly quick and looked like Valentines candy.

  3. Why not use 1 tub strawberry frosting and 1 bag of white chips. Microwave 30 sec each. Stir together.

  4. I gave these five stars for two reasons... One was the easy of recipe. Two was great taste. To me those two ingredients makes up for a little clean up here and there. I did make these with regular semi sweet chocolate as well as white chocolate. I did go with Rohanlori's use of 2tbs as well. It did work out very well. These can be made for any season or just because. Thank you Cherry for listing a simple and delicious recipe!
