100% Whole Wheat Rolls

"This recipe turns out great homemade rolls for those who love 100% whole wheat bread. They rose beautifully and plump in the oven. Makes 20-25 rolls depending on how big you make them. I made 2 inch dough balls and they rose to 3 inches after baked. To make more rolls just make the dough balls smaller."

  1. I love these rolls with just a few tweaks. I make these once a week and we are no longer buying bread from the store. I've used this recipe to make dinner rolls, burger buns and sliced bread. All delicious. The only changes that I have made is 1. I increased the honey to ½ cup instead of ¼ cup. And 2. I add the honey in with the warm water to proof my yeast. Thanks for the recipe!!

  2. Simple and delicious. Following a suggestion below I made mine as cloverleaf dinner rolls and they were perfect. Great recipe. I did use whole wheat pastry flour and substituted 2 T ground flaxseed plus 6 T water for the eggs. Still worked beautifully.

  3. These were perfect! I made them to use as burger buns, and they were just right! They actually baked in less than the 20 minutes. Thanks!

  5. Wouldn’t know. I never have any luck copying any of your recipes and I’m now going to write it out or keep turning my phone on. I have this problem with lots of recipes. I’m in a wheelchair and had about 10 pieces of copy paper in my wireless printer. I had got out of my chair and was looking at recipes. I went to copy one. I got 10 copies of colored photos of the dish & ads etc. waisted all my ink I had left. I couldn’t get up quick enough to stop it. I’ll send you a couple pictures of my recipe ! I wanted to show you a picture but can’t get it on. I see the reviews are far in between going back years. Sad

  2. Excellent dinner rolls. Second time I made these I used canola oil instead of olive oil and liked the flavor better. Thanks for posting.
