5 Spice Shrimp

- 1⁄2 lb medium shrimp, deveined,tail left on
- 2 teaspoons five-spice powder (I use more)
- salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove minced garlic (I use more)
- 1⁄4 cup dry white wine
directions
- Pat shrimp dry and coat them with the 5 spice powder and salt& pepper (on a plate or in a bag).
- Heat oil in a pan at medium high heat.
- Add shrimp, cook stirring until shrimp curl and turn pink, 1-2 minutes .
- Add the garlic and cook another 30 seconds.
- Add the wine and boil until reduced by half and shrimp are opaque, about 1 minute.
- Serve warm.

This was interesting. The first time I made it we enjoyed it a lot more, the second time, I think there was just too much 5 spice powder for my taste. I prefer it with the barest hint of spice taste, rather than a heavy dusting. It's definitely a different sort of flavour- might be something I'd try to tweak again into an appetizer or something.
