  1. Is this really an African food?

  2. Rolled some in coconut and some in sesame seeds as others suggested. Both were good. The other candy pictured in my photo is date balls that were rolled in cocoa powder.

  3. A sweet treat that is quick and easy to make. My aunt used to make these with powdered milk so I decided to try the toasted wheat germ and must say it was thoroughly enjoyed. Made this recipe as written although it did take a little more than 1/2 cup coconut for rolling all the balls. Thanks for the post.

  4. So easy! I actually used oats instead of the milk or wheat germ, then rolled in coconut. I think I'd use a bit less honey next time but that's just me -- everyone loved them. Thanks for sharing!

  5. The kids really liked these and would have ate all of them, if I did not limit them. I used half powdered milk and half toasted wheat germ when I made these. I had written the recipe down on paper, so when I started gathering the ingredients, I wondered why I did not write down sesame seeds. The answer is because it did not call for them. But then I researched sesame seed and found the following info...majority of the wild species of the genus Sesamum (sesame seed) are native to sub-saharan Africa. So I decided to roll the other half of these candies in sesame seed. I think I like the ones it the rolled in the seeds the best. Made for *ZWT 6* I'm on Team *Ya Ya Cookerhood*
