Questions & Replies

  1. My husband and I made the Amish onion Patties recipe and when we started cooking in the oil the patties looked brown but were very oily. How do we keep the oil out of the patty? We used Canola oil. We also used less oil than what the recipe uses. Is there another way to cook the patties without oil?

  1. Better to drain fried foods on a rack, NOT on paper towels. Draining on paper towels leads to soggy eats.

  2. Made these to go with seafood for the super bowl and they were a hit! I had to triple the recipe. I reccomend everyone try these, they would be good with beans or chili.....just about anything.

  3. I made this recipe a little different in that I added some spices and used buttermilk instead of regular milk but, they still came out oh so good! I had to force myself to wait till the patties were cool enough to eat! Ya gotta try 'em!

  5. Oh, Miss Annie!! These were wonderful! I was browsing your page and saw your cookbook of Amish and Mennonite recipes. Looked through it and saw this one - I am an onion lover! I suggested to my DH that maybe a bit of fresh ground pepper would be nice and his words were "Don't you change a thing - they're perfect!" And they are so easy to make. There you go. Next, I am going to try your Cabbage Casserole - cabbage is one of our favourite veggies. If it is nearly as good as your Onion Patties, we'll both be in Heaven. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
