Thank you for a great recipe. I wasn't sure what to make of it when I saw the applesauce but it tastes fantastic. I didn't have any apples or cloves for the topping so I just left them out. This may now be my new top meatloaf recipe. Too bad there wasn't any left for sandwiches the next day!! (because hubby ate it all!)

We enjoyed this meatloaf; it had rather a German flavor to it. I used sweetened applesauce, and it was a little too sweet; next time I'll go with unsweetened. (My husband loved it, though.) It did end up having a lot of fat and liquid cook out; I had to drain it at the end. Next time I'll drain it partway through so it doesn't get so mushy and overflow the pan and make a mess of the oven. But the taste was wonderful.

This meatloaf is quite different than any other I have made but boy oh boy is it delicious. We loved the apple rings & brown sugar glaze baked on top. I used unsweetened applesauce because that is what I had on hand. The recipe didn't specify sweetened or unsweetened. The meatloaf itself was moist and very flavorful. My hubby is looking forward to cold meatloaf sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! It is one we will be making again.
