  1. What a simple and tasty dish! The use of pork and hamburger make for a nice combination of flavors with the hot pork adding a bit of heat (plus the cayenne pepper). The chopped vegetables interspersed throughout the dish are not only flavorful but pretty as well. This dish is more meat than rice so one could stretch this dish with the addition of cooked rice if they desired. [I added about 1 teaspoon of Mrs. Dash seasoning (no salt version) for a little more flavor.]

  2. We loved this. I used a tube of sage sausage and omitted the hamburger. We also added some black eyed peas.

  3. Very tasty! I used andouille sausage, and I only had a red bell pepper instead of the green; otherwise the recipe was made as directed. Everybody ate it, which is shocking enough, but even all the leftovers were polished off, too. I will definitely make this again; thanks! :)

  4. Being from LA myself, I was skeptical when this recipe did not call for adding the seasonings to the meat as it browns. I love trying new recipes, so I was like, "Let's see what happens". Unfortunately for me, I made the mistake of tasting it once it was done, and I'm still "tasting"! What a wonderful recipe!Super easy to make, and an instant success. Thank you from my household to yours!

  5. This was so easy! Adding the vegetables after browning the meat released the pan juices, making just the right amount to coat the rice. This is my favorite way to make dirty rice, by far.

Tweaks

  1. This recipe was great. I'm not much of an eater of spice but I enjoyed this very much. I did use a Cajun Seasoning instead of the the cayenne pepper which I think with the blend of spices it gave it a less spicy taste which is why it wasn't too hot for me. Quick, simple and great tasting which is what I like. Thanks for a great recipe.
