Baked French Toast

  • Coat a 3 quart oblong baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Pour the maple syrup into the dish.
  • Slice the French bread into eigth 2 inch slices and place over the syrup.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs, egg whites, skim milk, vanilla, and nutmeg until well blended.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread, pressing the bread to soak up the liquid.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 deg F.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown.

  4. Easy,delicious French toast! I used regular maple syrup and 3 eggs (didn't feel like messing around with separating an egg), and I also added a little cinnamon. It baked up nice and golden in 40 minutes. Thanks Marc!
     
  5. I made two batches of this for a church brunch potluck today and it was a big hit. Followed directions exactly. It would be good served with some fruit on the side. Next time I might use raisin bread, or add raisins. Again, I got several requests for the recipe. Thanks so much!
