Baked Grilled Cheese

"My family loves grilled cheese so when they asked for it I wanted to try something new. This was the best grilled cheese, nice crunchy bread with melted cheese. I had to post this so I wouldn't forget it. Family loved it served with homemade milkshakes and fries. This is a great way to make a bunch at one time and the clean-up was nothing. ;)"

  1. I used cheddar and provolone and add some ham with roast beef, It's was great. I'm always going to make my grilled cheese sandwiches like this now! Grpa! Thank you for a great idea !!

  2. This is the BEST method for a non soggy, crispy grilled cheese sandwich. For those with white, untoasted bread something must be wrong either with the oven or pan used. I use a half sheet pan, stainless steel. brown and crisp every time.

  3. 450 for 5 minutes each side was PERFECT!

  4. I had to cook them for 15 minutes. They were almost perfect, though. 100x easier than using a skillet or griddle.

  5. Oven at 450, 4 sandwiches in for almost 20 minutes, cheese is melted, and bread is still wet with butter without a hint of browning. I'm glad others have had positive results, but I can't, in good conscience, suggest this recipe

Tweaks

  1. Add crisp cooked bacon for a yummy twist.

  2. I beat the pale bread by heating the baking pan with the oven as it preheated, covered the bottom of the pan in a coat of butter, melted about 6 tbsps of butter for the tops and brushed it on the tops, took less time to cook as well.

  3. What better meal to serve on a very rainy day, Baked Grill Cheese and Pasta Sausage Soup!(184501)This recipe makes the most delicious grilled cheese. I combined cheddar and mozarella and it was so good. I have also tried this for the last few weeks with Tortillas instead of bread. It comes out perfect both ways with the tortillas a bit crispy. A great method to make many sandwhichs at once. Everyone loved it. Thanks for sharing.
