Baked Rutabaga "fries"

"Rutagabas are a root vegetable, right? So why not make fries out of them too. Note: These will not be crispy."

  • 1 medium rutabaga
  • 1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash seasoning mix, blend (regular flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic granules
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil

directions

  • Preheat oven to 475.
  • Peel rutabaga and cut into fries as you would with potatoes.
  • Place into large bowl.
  • Coat them with the oil.
  • Add seasonings and combine.
  • Place on large baking sheet, lined with non stick foil.
  • Should be one layer.
  • Bake 30-40 minute
  • Serve hot.

  1. I had already made these and making them again today for lunch. They come out really nice. A different taste than potato, but equally as good. Now I don't use Mrs. Dash, but I use a similar seasoning, just a different brand. So basically, the same flavor. They came out very crunchy, perfectly cooked.<br/><br/>I did cook mine on parchment paper and did flip them 1/2 way through cooking and just perfect. Thx for a nice alternative to the FRENCH FRY!<br/>Very nice recipe

  3. Great new way for me to enjoy the rutabaga! And no need for ketchup....these are delicious all by themselves. I noticed mine getting a bit to brown, so I reduced the cooking temp a bit half-way through. Turned out great....thanks for sharing!
