  1. I use this recipe regularly as a guide. It's easy to tweak it a little depending on your taste and what you have on hand. Tonight I used a minced jalapeno for extra kick, a smaller can of beans and extra spice. I wrap some in tortillas, put grated cheese over them and bake them until they're a little crispy. They are so good. Thanks for the recipe - it's one of my go-to meals now.

  2. Awesome - The words that kept coming out of my husbands mouth. He asked for burritos for dinner and I found this. I cut the recipe in 1/2 and it made 8 9" burritos. Put them in a 13X9 pan, sprinkled them with shredded cheese on top once they are in pan (put cheese inside the burrito too!) at 350 for 15 minutes. Once out of the oven we added cut tomatoes, lettuce and sour cream. My husband added chipolte peppers to his and he said it made it even better! Great recipe! I added more garlic, chili powder and cumin than the recipe called for to fit our taste. Another idea - let the refried beans melt into the meat. I read a comment that someone said it was too thick. You need to let it melt. THANKS FOR THE RECIPE!!

  3. This was excellent! Although I should note that I mistakingly drifted from the recipe by not realizing it called for 2 pounds of beef and 2 normal size cans of refried beans. Thus I ended up with double the seasoning, garlic and tomato sauce on my 1 pound of beef and 1 can of beans. But it was perfect! I won't change a thing the next time I make this. I rolled up the mixture in flour tortillas along with some cheese, spread the remaining mixture (that wouldn't fit in the tortillas) on top and then sprinkled with more cheese. Baked at 350 for 15 minutes and it was a great, quick to fix meal that our whole family enjoyed!!

  4. I like other reviewers liked for a base. I added enchilada sauce instead of tomato sauce. Used taco seasoning instead of the spices.

  5. This was a nice recipe but I think the 5 star rating would depend on the extra ingredients. I tasted this on its own and although it had a good consistency (we used refried beans), I otherwise felt it was too bland. I also used ground crumbles instead of ground beef (we always do this as we are vegetarian, so we like the taste). So if you really know what you like on top of your burritos you might decide this is 5 star:D Thanks!

  3. This is really great tasting. I did substitute black beans for the refried beans. I will make it again with the refried beans. Thanks so much nessa1021....
