  • Cut shortening into flour and salt until dough appears crumbly.
  • Add water a little at a time, until it can be gathered into a ball.
  • Roll out dough on a floured counter.
  • Don't overwork it.
  • Use as directed in pie recipe.
  • It will be very flaky.

  2. excellent recipe. This was my very first dough/pie making experience and it went well. I substituted and used fresh squeezed lemon juice.
     
  3. Tastes good & needed at least a 3 hour chill time because of the tearing. I did not have enough crust to make edges because if I rolled it any thinner it tore more even after chilling it.
     
  4. Was perfect with "Best Ever Pumpkin Pie" #28758. Made full recipe for deep dish and cut away excess crust. Put the dough disc in the fridge the night before and rolled the next morning. So easy! Thanks!
     
  5. Simple for someone like me who doesnt know anything, and great taste...I tried it with an orange meringue recipe and the crust was excellent even if I did mess up the filling! Will definitely use again :-)
