Biscuit Taco Casserole

"I got this recipe off of the Pillsbury site. Great meal to fix if time is limited. I did not add olives to mine. I did add sprinkle of red pepper flakes to ground beef mixture. But, we like "hot" food. Next time I am going to try sausage. On the cheese use 1 cup to 1 1/2 cup of each of the cheeses. We like cheesy so we use the 1 1/2 cup of each."

  1. This was easy and tasty. I think I'd do it just like this again but with corn added for more pop. The chipotle peppers made it a little sweet which would have worked well with corn. Good, tho.

  2. Very easy and fun to make. I substituted corn for the peppers and mushrooms. Very good!

  3. Made it with mild Italian sausage, peppers and onions. Fabulous recipe! Also agree that cheese on top of meat was a good idea. Nothing dried out that way. Kids loved it, 5 stars!

  4. This was a nice recipe and quick to make. Only thing I did not like was I felt the biscuits absorbed the taco sauce and I felt it was a little bland. I will also next time reverse the hamburger mixture and put the cheese on top of the hamburger, as it dried out a little. But the overal concept and flavor is great, just needs a little tweeking.

  5. This was great and very easy! I looked up the original recipe to find out how many olives to use since I like olives (it called for a 2.25-oz can sliced ripe olives, drained). I used all the optional ingredients (but skipped the green bell and doubled the red bell). I also used cheddar-jack cheese in place of the separate cheddar & mozzarella (used 10 oz total). I too like "hot" food so also added a sprinkle of red pepper flakes (about 1/4 tsp but more would have been OK). This was a good way to stretch a small amount of meat and also get some veggies. I also plan to try this with sausage in the future. Thanks for posting happynana!

Tweaks

  1. I made this using what i had at home so only yellow bell peppers, green chilies, and instead of taco sauce i used a can of chipotle peppers in Adobe sauce mixed with a little salsa and water to thin it a bit. I put the cheese on top.

My favorite recipes are from Paula Deen. I love to cook and eat -- that is why I workout 5 to 6 times a week. I enjoy Bible study, cooking, working out at the gym and reading. My husband and I love spending time with our grandsons who live about 45 miles from us. We are quick to give Our Heavenly Father credit for all the wonderful blessings in our life. My pet peeves are greed and people who are always late. I love this site and it is so much fun. I have met many nice chefs while participating in the contests. I think it is unfair when chefs change an original recipe and then give a low rating. The way I will rate recipes: 5***** Delicious Recipes that we enjoyed and will want to have again and again. 4****Recipes that I would make again but make some changes. 3***Recipes that I would probably not try again without some major changes. I will not give a 1 or 2 rating as I know that the chefs that took time to enter the recipe felt it was deserving to share. I just have different tastes than them. <a href="http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/?action=view¤t=curriedcurrajongs.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/curriedcurrajongs.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/boronia.jpg"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z205/jubespage/AussieRecipeSwap.gif"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PAC08Main.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/Cooking-Kangaroo-1-1.jpg"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PACfall08partic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/IWasAdoptedfall08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/7016b640.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e110/flower753/Food/my3chefsnov2008.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/AMpageSticker.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/CookathonforKarensticker.jpg"><img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/KBparticipation.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/TagRed-STKR.jpg"><img src=http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii31/bleupantry/RecipeZaar%20and%20other%20Food/Top%20Favs%20of%202008%20GAME/ParticipationBanner.jpg><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"><img src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2/kiwidutch/my3chefs2009final-1.jpg">
