  • 2 (9 inch) pie crusts (uncooked)
  • 4 tart apples, peeled and cored thinly sliced (such as Granny Smith's)
  • 12 cup pecans, chopped
  • 14 cup sugar
  • 14 lb caramel, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 14 cup milk
  • milk (for sprinkling on top)
  • sugar (for sprinkling on top)

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Line 9-inch pie plate with 1 pastry crust.
  • In a large bowl, toss together apples, pecans, sugar, caramels, flour, and milk; spoon mixture into pie shell.
  • Top with remaining pastry; fold the edge of the top pastry under the bottom pastry.
  • Pinch together and flute the edge with a fork.
  • Cut several slits in top so the steam can escape during baking; brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Bake until crust is golden brown, about 45 minutes.
  • Pie is best served slightly warm (with ice-cream of course!).

  1. Can you say the yummiest thing ever? And so easy to make. I used the Pillsbury crust you unroll. Comes out very flaky. I also added some cinnamon to kick it up a notch. All it needed was some vanilla icecream and carmel topping!!
     
  2. Every fall I get a request from my family to make this pie. I usually end up making several of them as they get eaten up too fast! I don't like tart apples so I usually use McIntosh apples

I am a busy single mom of 5 growing boys!! My children's ages are 21,18,14,12 and 10 1/2. In my spare time,when I have any, I try to walk 3 miles a day.I like to read Woman's World and inspirational books and if I didn't have 5 beautiful boys to care for, I would probably be doing missionary work. I live in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in British Columbia and I swear we must be living in Heaven on earth!!!I would love to travel if I had the resources and time with Brazil and South America being on the top of my list of places to see.
