Cheesy Ham & Veggie Soup

"This is "souper" easy comfort food - the kind of pantry throw-together we all need some days. I add some cooked elbow pasta to mine as I am a carboholic! Adapted from a recipe found in Hometown Cookbook magazine."

  • 3 cups water
  • 3 carrots (peeled & sliced)
  • 1 potato (peeled & diced)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 12 cup celery (sliced)
  • 2 cups ham (cubed)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 (11 ounce) can diced tomatoes (drained)
  • 1 (11 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (11 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (15 ounce) jar Cheez Whiz

directions

  • In a soup pot, combine water, carrots, potato, onion& celery.
  • Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover& simmer 10 minutes.
  • Add the ham, peas& tomatoes.
  • Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover& simmer 5 minutes more.
  • Stir in the soups and cheese dip.
  • Heat and stir until soup is heated through.

  1. This soup was very good, did not have any diced tomatoes so I added stewed tomatoes, I also replaced the peas with mixed vegs. Thanks, I will be making this again.

Can't believe I've been a member here for 18 years! It's changed a lot since the old RecipeZaar days and maybe or maybe not for the better. It used to be a community and now it's just a tool. Sad, but life goes on. I have been in Kentucky for 12 years now and enjoy the country lifestyle, along with master gardening. Recipes I've found here since Day One are still in my rotation. Don't entertain that much anymore, so finding new and exciting foods is no longer center stage. Just glad to have so many good recipes to fall back on because eating out is expensive and sometimes too far to drive.
