  1. I make this frequently in the winter...my husband loves it. Great, soothing, warming comfort food.

  2. This is one of my father's favorites and I made it for him, only I used prepared biscuits instead of Bisquick. It turned out GREAT!

  3. This was very good and easy to make! I added a package of frozen peas in the last five minutes of cooking time. My only suggestion would be change the recipe to include information about how much water to use. I used enough to cover the chicken pieces by an inch, and it worked perfectly, but I did wonder if I was using the right amount.

  4. I loved this recipe, just like my grandmothers. Thank you so much for posting.

  5. This is how I make my chicken and dumplings minus the onions. Excellent comfort food!

I'm a Marine Corps wife and mother of two children with skin and three with fur. I consider myself a "southern cook", but I love to try new stuff, too. I'm also a registered nurse and my specialty is Neonatal ICU. We are currently stationed near Washington, DC and we really, really could not hate it more. We are not big city people. We prefer the quiet mountains of Vermont, where my husband is from. I am into my own spirituality, and love to study religions of different kinds.
