ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, beans, etc.)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 2 onions, chopped
- 1⁄2 teaspoon sage
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon savory (optional)
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 2 cups milk or 2 cups cream
- 1 1⁄2 cups chicken broth
- 6 cups chicken or 6 cups turkey, chopped
- 2 pie crusts (or leftover mashed potatoes)
directions
- Cook frozen vegetables in 1 cup boiling water for 3 minutes. Set aside retaining liquid.
- In a large pot, cook celery and onions in butter until browned.
- Mix flour and seasonings and blend into the onion mixture.
- Remove from heat and add cream. Mix.
- Mix in vegetables, turkey, and chicken broth.
- Boil to thicken.
- Add mixture to pie crusts, and top with more crust or mashed potatoes, or serve over rice.
