  1. I made 10 different kinds of cookies yesterday and these were by far the winner! Did not garnish them with chocolate. Also swapped out almond extract for the liqueur, but I think next time I will only use 1/2 tbsp. Also cut my cherries in half. UPDATE: I made these again today for a bake sale and I used amarena cherries in place of the dried. I prefer this recipe with the tart dried cherry to be honest. If you are using amarena cherries in this recipe, I recommend that you increase it to 3/4 cup from 1/2 cup.

  2. I have several pounds of dried cherries and wanted to find a good cookie recipe for the holidays to use them up. My sig. other is diabetic so I thought I'd give this recipe a try using the Pillsbury sugar free devil's food mix--turned out amazing! Everyone loved it and you would never guess it is sugar free. Mine were a cross between a brownie and a cookie. I added a heaping tablespoon of cocoa powder and omitted the chocolate drizzle. I used a tablespoon of almond extract the first time around and it was way too much for my taste, one tsp of almond and two tsps of vanilla turned out perfect. These were so popular they are going into the christmas baskets this year!

  3. These are the best cookies that exist -- No joke. I've found that the Wal-Mart brand of cherries work the best. They're more plump and not sugar-coated like other brands I've seen. I always refrigerate the cookies after drizzling the chocolate to let the topping harden. They're even more delicious when served right out of the fridge. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!

  4. These weren't quite as good, for us, as the other reviews stated. They were just okay. I made them exactly as written.

  1. A big hit! I made these for the cookie exchange at work and everyone who got one loved them! I used vanilla in place of the almond liqueur because I did not have it and it worked perfect. Thank you for posting, I think these will become a tradition for my holiday baking.

  2. Wow! Loved these. They were SO easy to make. I got rave reviews from everyone I gave some to. They are chewy and chocolatey. I used vanilla instead of the almond liqueur and I also double the amount and plumped the cherries before I mixed them into the batter.

  3. these are so easy and taste great. next time i will add more dried cherries. also, i used 1/2 tsp. almond extract instead of the liqueur and they still turned out great!
