Chocolate Frogs

"This is one of my boyfriends favourite recipes and a good sweet dish to make in hot weather since there's no oven involved to heat up your kitchen. You can also sub museli for the oats. "

  1. The only problem that I have with this recipe is that I can't seem to stay away from them! I seem to be addicted. I nibbled when I made them and I keep coming back for more nibbles! They are supposed to be for my husband's lunch! Really great, easy recipe! Thank you for the inches to my waistline :)

  2. I used to make these a lot when I was a teenager and just starting to experiment with cooking. I have 3 brothers and they always devoured them with glee! I lost the recipe back then and just happened to come across it here! Now I am the Mom in my own house and I am going to make these with my son right now as it is a rainy Sunday and also Football Day! Go Bucs!!!! Thanks so much for the recipe! I never knew them as "Frogs", but my son will love that name!

  3. One of DH's favs, as is anything with peanut butter. I make these a lot in the winter. So easy and so yummy!!

  4. These go very quickly in my house. I've made this recipe countless times and each time served it and shared it with so many people. This recipe got fans all over the world :) I have to agree with your BF on these. these are quick and yummy too. Guess what! I just made a batch of these again, too hard to resist when there is a pic too with the recipe.

  5. These were so easy and my husband loved them. Unlike others, I have never heard of this recipe and was thrilled to have something soooo easy to do for my chocolate-lover. Didn't change a thing and will definitely make these again. Thanks, SG!

Tweaks

  1. We made this recipe and followed the instructions exactly with one exception...we used almond butter instead of peanut butter. (No peanuts allowed in school.) Everybody loved them, they didn't hang around very long. Next time I may try to add some rice krispies for a bit of crunch, but they were great as is. Thanks for the recipe, we'll be making these often.

  2. Oh, Sackville Girl,"THANK YOU" so much for this recipe!! Chocolate Frogs have been a favourite of mine since childhood. I love making them for a quick & easy chocolate fix! Your recipe is a new spin on them for me.....my recipe is exactly as yours except it uses 6 tbsp. cocoa and 1 cup of coconut instead of the crunchy peanut butter. I am a huge fan of anything chocolate & peanut butter, so imagine my delight when I saw this recipe!! I almost could not wait to make them! These are incredible, I don't think I will be able to stop eating them!! The taste of the peanut butter with the chocolate and the crunch of the nuts take these to a new height for me!YMMMMM! Can't believe I never came across a recipe for these with peanut butter before this! What I have been missing! Thanks again for an awesome recipe that very well may end up being a childhood favourite for my two young children(3yrs.& 11 months)as their Mommy will certainly be making them often!!(p.s.,my three year old of course wanted to lick the spoon & pot when I was through and was none too happy when I took it from her to wash it! although she relaxed pretty quick when I promised her a frog when they were cool!!)Thanks again!

This is a picture of me and my husband in Portugal, climbing up above the clouds with our bikes. Right now we are travelling around the world on our bicycles, so I only pop onto Zaar occasionally, when internet connections and time allow me to. If I don't reply to a message about one of my recipes, now you know why! Our trip may take several years so if it's urgent, it's probably better for you to post in the forums ;) Good food is really important to me -- I am happy to pay extra for food that I feel is produced in a sustainable and ethical way and always try to eat using seasonal produce. When we were in the UK we rarely shopped at supermarkets, trying instead to favour small producers, although we were very lucky in that we lived in London and there was lots of choice. We also were fortunate enough to have a weekly organic veg box delivered to our door, filled with so many lovely vegetables for very little money. It really opened my horizons in terms of the variety of vegetables I eat. If you're in the UK, check out Riverford for a box supplier as they're amazing! When I'm not eating I love to take pictures and travel with my husband. <img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/DUCHESS13/World%20Tour/ZWT2.gif">
