- 1 3⁄4 cups sifted cake flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 cup cocoa
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1⁄2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 36 marshmallows, halved
- pecan halves

Cocoa Frosting
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 5 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 dash salt
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 4 tablespoons light cream
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Sift flour; measure and sift again with soda, salt, and cocoa. Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually and blending thoroughly. Add egg and beat. Add flour mixture and milk alternately, beating after each addition. Add chopped nuts and vanilla; mix. Drop by level teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350* for 8 minutes. Top with marshmallow halves, cut side down. Return to oven until marshmallow softens. Cool. Frost with chocolate frosting and top each cookie with a pecan half. For frosting; Sift powdered sugar with cocoa. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth.
