Love this old kiwi classic. Today I made 2 batches. One with the peanuts and one without the peanuts (for my daughters whom are 4 and under). When Mum first moved to Australia she made up may batches of these to give to all my Kiwi (and some Aussie) friends and always attached a copy of the recipe. Thanks Evie, always a winner.

I reduced the sugar amt to 1/2 cup and found the Woolworths brand of cocoa the best quality (darkest) to use so the tablespoons I use are heaped, to give a darker cookie and better flavour. I add the peanuts in small amts at a time so as not to overload the cookie. I have made the adjustments to my taste and my family love it so much that I always have to make a double batch if not more because they fight over their stashes to take home and hide! Lol

These sounded so yummy - but 12-16 biscuits goes nowhere in THIS house, so I doubled the recipe. I now have 57 chocolate peanut brownies! Luckily, they taste wonderful, so I can hand them out all over the neighbourhood! LOL Great easy recipe. An absolute keeper. NEXT time, I won't be so @#@%* greedy.

Check biscuits at 12 minutes depending on how hot your oven is, so they don't get too overcooked. Once they have cooled down they harden up anyway, so DO NOT leave them in the oven too long and overcook them otherwise you will have cookies that'll break some teeth. Cut down the sugar to 1/2 cup Also, I use the Woolworths brand of cocoa as it is the darkest and strong-flavored cocoa on the market. Also, the Woolworths peanuts in their snack isle are perfect for this recipe, with no skin on them as well.
