ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 cups cider vinegar
- 3⁄4 cup spicy brown mustard
- 1⁄2 cup ketchup
- 1⁄3 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 3 garlic cloves, mashed into paste
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cayenne
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
directions
- Mix all ingredients in saucepan over med. heat.
- Simmer 8-10 minute or until sugar is fully dissolved.

I agree, I like the vinegar based barbecue sauces too! I make this barbecue sauce with recipe #208349 for pulled pork along with recipe #317641 for Cole Slaw. The only difference in my recipe is I use 1 cup mustard, 1 teaspoon cayenne and add pan drippings from the pork (I skim the fat off the top and add ½ cup water and cook it in saucepan over medium heat until reduced by half) I then add the barbecue sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Yum
