ingredients
-
Dough
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs (at room temp)
- 1⁄3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine, melted
- 4 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 cup of packed brown sugar
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons bread yeast
-
Cream cheese topping
- 1 package light cream cheese
- 5 tablespoons of softened butter
- 1 tablespoon sour cream
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1⁄4 cups icing sugar
directions
- Mix the flour, salt, and bread yeast in a bowl. Then use a bigger bowl to mix the milk, eggs, and butter.
- Combine the two mixtures and knead the dough.
- Have the dough rest and double in size. Cover with plastic wrap and set in warm place - I left the dough by the fire for 5 hours or so.
- When dough has doubled, cover and let rest on a floured surface for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix the packed brown sugar and powdered cinnamon.
- Roll out the dough into a 16" x 21" rectangle. Spread 1/3 cup softened butter on dough surface. Then sprinkle the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture all over the buttered dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly so that you end up with a 21" roll (longer rather than fatter). Pinch dough edge into roll.
- Cut roll into 12 equal portions. Place rolls in 9"x 13" casserole dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes (I left them overnight in the fridge covered).
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 mins until the tops are lightly browned.
- Mix all the ingredients for the topping together on high speed for 1-2 minutes. Spread on the buns and enjoy.
