Coney Island Sauce for Hot Dogs

"This is great on hot dogs, especially grilled ones. Sometimes when my garden overfloweth with peppers I will add one or two of those as well. Hot sauce added is a great addition for those that like a good kick, but leave it out for the littles or those who don't care for the hot. this is best the nexted day once it has been reheated . Please note that I called for 1 cup of water, however if you want it thicker you may reduce the water to 1/2 cup."

  1. This is an *excellent* coney sauce. absolutely delicious! Not sickeningly sweet like some others, this is perfect for our tastes.. I was raised in the midwest (Detroit suburbs) where there is a coney joint on just about every corner. I moved the family down to Florida where no one has ever heard of a coney, so we get homesick for them occasionally. This recipe was the closest yet to the kind we're used to, it was just an awesome flashback that me and my family were craving. We had coney dogs last nite, and I'm planning on using the leftovers tomorrow for coney burgers.. finely chopped onions and mustard are a must!

I am a cook by trade but currently, am busy at home with my children. I love to cook and try new recipes, and currently since I do stay home, am having a ball seeing how far I can make our dollars stretch. It is amazing with a little effort, how far things can really go. Now I am back at work part time, as a cook, and trying my best to balance everything, including good food for the fam I have a pet peeve, on this site, and that is when people rudely rate the food. Sometimes, a recipe is just not going to work for you and your family, but that doesn't make it bad. I really appreciate though when their is an obvious error, and someone kindly points that out, in a positive way.
