Questions & Replies

  1. Thought taste was very good but batter was a disaster. Too thin. Tried both as pancake and waffle. Giant mess and the batter seemed to separate. Will give it another try but don’t know why it failed

  2. if using oat flour instead of the ground oats, what is the equivalent?

  3. Has anyone tried using regular flour instead of whole wheat flour in the Harvest Grain and Nut Pancakes like at IHOP?

Reviews

  1. I've never had these pancakes at IHOP, but I was happy to try them in the quest for a healthy, substantial pancake. I loved the hearty texture of these along with that signature flavor buttermilk gives; I wasn't sure if I noticed the tangy flavor other reviews described, at first, but realized that it did indeed have that "flavor" IHOP's pancakes do, so it made it very unique. I used a 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce in place of the oil and the pancakes were moist inside and not raw from the replacement. I also replaced the sugar with a few tablespoons I had of honey and a half a pureed banana to add some natural sweetness; the pancakes weren't as sweet as I imagine them being at IHOP, but I really liked the natural flavor the banana lent to it. These are really filling and a great recipe to share!

  2. These really are just like IHOP's...which are my favorite! I used lemon juice milk in place of buttermilk. Chopped the nuts in my "mini-prep" (mini food processor) and ground the oatmeal in the mini-prep as well. I combined everything with a wisk instead of electic mixer. Worked perfectly!

  3. I actually really loved these pancakes. They have a great taste and perfect texture. They felt a bit healthier than normal, which was a plus!

  4. Just made this for a Mother's Day brunch at home. It was perfect. Everyone loved it. I added my ground walnuts and followed the recipe to the letter. Beats IHOP Harvest grain and nut pancakes. Will not be going to IHOP for awhile. Thank you. Thank you for this amazing recipe.

Tweaks

  1. I added 1 tsp vanilla. Nice recipe turned out well.

  2. Fluffy and hardy deliciousness!! Now I don’t have to sneak my Quebec maple syrup into IHOP!!

  3. Incredible! I was introduced to these pancakes, looking for a healthier alternative at IHOP. I made this recipe pretty much as directed. I used the blender to process the oatmeal, then pulsed the walnuts and almonds a few times. I replaced the buttermilk with almond coconut milk, which turned out to be fabulous. I used coconut oil on the skillet. Real Canadian Maple Syrup and sliced bananas to top for an incredible experience I will look forward to again! Thanks so much for sharing, JustaQT!
