- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup water
- 4 eggs

Filling
- 5 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
directions
- Mix cake mix, pudding, and shortening on low speed until crumbly.
- Add the water and eggs.
- Beat on medium for 2 minutes.
- Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 pan.
- Bake a 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
- In a saucepan combine flour and milk until smooth.
- Bring to a boil.
- Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
- Cool completely.
- Cream butter, shortening, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
- Beat in milk mixture until sugar is disolved, about 5 minutes.
- Split cake into 2 horizontal layers.
- Spread filling over the bottom layer.
- Replace top layer.

<p>I love to eat good food! In the past 4 or 5 years I have come to appreciate great tasting food and the time and experience involved to prepare it. I myself am not a great cook but am slowly learning from watching and trying and have realized it's usually not right on the first try and that's ok :) Since I am clueless about cooking and not a real creative person I am glad that those of you out there who are post their recipes here for me to use.<img title=Smile src=/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-smile.gif border=0 alt=Smile /></p>
