  • 1 12 lbs round steaks
  • salt and pepper
  • 14 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced carrot
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 12 cup water

directions

  • Salt and pepper the steak.
  • Pound in the flour.
  • Cut into 6 pieces.
  • Fry in hot oil until browned on both sides.
  • Put in crock pot.
  • Fry onions in same pan.
  • Add to crock pot.
  • Add tomatoes and carrots.
  • Add garlic salt and water.
  • Cook on low about 5 hours.

  1. I really enjoyed this recipe. We ended up putting in one can of diced tomatoes with jalapenos, and one stewed. Also added flour to the sauce to thicken it into more of a gravy. Thanks, it was great!
     
  2. I made this Swiss Steak for a Senior Citizen Dinner we had on the 28th of last month. I made dinner for 75 people and this recipe fit the bill. The only thing I did different was I cooked them in the oven on 250 degrees over night. AWESOME reviews from the seniors and their families. Thanks for posting.
     
  3. This recipe was great, I love swiss steak, and to find a recipe that I can put and forget for awhile was great. I added a little more flour towards the end of the cooking time to make it thicker. Thanks

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
