  1. Very nice recipe for the bread machine. Slices and toasts very nicely. Definatly a keeper!!! :-)

  2. Definitely a kid-pleaser (and everyone else too!) My loaf did not sink, in fact, don't make the mistake I did: since I have a 2-lb. machine, I converted the recipe to make a 2-lb. loaf, and the lid of my machine was practically popping off, it rose so high! Next time I will make the 1.5 lb. version - there definitely will be a next time.

  3. Very nice tasting oat bread that was popular with everyone. It did sink a little bit after rising but despite this still made a very good loaf. I would add some gluten flour to this to stop this from happening.

  4. This will be our new staple for homemade bread. My family of five loved this: light, moist, sliced well....stayed fresh for days.

  5. Very nice loaf of bread. Texture light and tender, sliced easily. Great as a side for savory food and toasted up well for breakfast. Thanks for sharing.

Tweaks

  1. Make this bread once a week with flax seed added and butter instead of margarine and it is delicious every time. This is my favorite recipe for the bread machine and its so easy. I agree with Okra that the ingredients are always on hand. I also use brown sugar Splenda for the diabetics in my family. Thanks so much for posting this recipe-it's a winner!!

  2. I love this bread - this time I added more oats and substituted honey for the brown sugar. Moist and delicious!

  3. This bread came out flawlessly. (The only substitution I made was using butter instead of margarine. On my machine, I used the white bread setting with light crust). It rose perfectly, tasted great, had a fluffy texture and a crust that wasn't crumbly, etc., etc. Just darn good bread all around!

  4. Made this today and have already had a slice with some butter. Very light and fluffy. I used bread flour and added some sunflower seeds and used butter instead of margarine. As I prefer to use the bread machine to just make the dough, I baked it in my oven at 200C/400F for 26 minutes and it came out perfect. The dough did not seem sticky to me at all.
