  • 6 large tomatoes
  • salt and pepper
  • TOPPING

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 12 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 pinch thyme

directions

  • Cut tomatoes in half and arrange in shallow pan.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Broil, cut side up 6 inches from heat for 5 minutes.
  • In small skillet, cook onion in butter, until soft.
  • Stir in rest of ing.
  • Spoon onto tomatoes.
  • Broil about 3 minutes longer -- until lightly browned.

  1. I made this side dish and it was a big hit. Flavor wise it was wonderful with the fresh parsley and fresh thyme from my herb garden. It made an awfully pretty dish, and we loved it. Thanks for sharing! I will make this one again and again!

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
