Dave's Family Famous Sloppy Joes
"I call these “Dave’s Family Famous Sloppy Joes” because they are a big hit with my family, at church potlucks, and for school lunches. I thank my mother-in-law (Marion Verdon) for giving me her recipe. I adapted my recipe from hers which called for 1/4 tsp nutmeg."

- 2 lbs ground chuck
- 1 small sweet onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or a sweetner substitute)
- salt and pepper
- 2 cups ketchup
- 2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
directions
- Brown the Ground Check with onion.
- Drain off the fat and return to stove on medium heat.
- Add Sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Mix ketchup, mustard, and apple cider vinegar in a measuring cup and stir.
- Add ketchup mixture to ground chuck.
- Bring to a slight boil.
- Reduce heat and cook for 20 minutes stirring to prevent burning.
- Serve over hamburger buns.
- Delicious with fresh sweet corn.
