  1. I originally got this recipe from my aunt, who got it from a friend, who got it from a friend, and so on. It's now a favourite for bridal and baby showers, pot-lucks at mine and my husband's work, and parties. In fact, I got a special request yesterday afternoon from my husband's job that I send my "famous dirt cake" along for a farewell party. Needless to say, I couldn't find my recipe and turned here! It's absolutely fabulous and a real conversation piece!

  2. I made this for a friend at work and it was a hit. I used a new decorative flower pot, covered up the hole with an oreo. I mixed the cookie crumbs and pudding mix together, then ended with a layer of 'dirt' at the top. Its lots easier to serve that way. I added a few gummy worms peeking out of the 'dirt'. A few of my co-workers wondered where the cake was, they thought it was a gift of a blooming plant! We had it again with chocolate pudding, its even better than the vanilla.

  3. I have made this recipe several times. I often make this \

  4. I almost forgot to review this cake! It is yummy and certainly a favorite when our family gets together. The one child amongst many adults in our family requests this and he is very possessive with the leftovers, as in he takes the leftovers home with him :) It is a no fail, sure to please the majority recipe. This is a keeper and a repeater! Thanks Gingerbee!

  5. This is a great recipe that can be made for many different occasions. My husband has to have this every Halloween. I make the cake as directed and then use ghost Peeps, little pumpkins and tombstones to decorate the top. It's a big hit every year! Thanks for sharing your recipe with us!!!

  1. This is a family/cummunity favorite around here. You can also put this in a 9 x 13" pan with half the crumbs on the bottom and half on top. It's great to make ahead, freeze then just take out of the freezer about 30 minutes before cutting and serving. Also great with a dollop of Cool Whip and a fresh strawberry on top of each serving. Have also subbed Pecan Sandies then served with a strawberry sauce.

I'm a "newbee" to this site, but not to cooking. I love great food and to share recipes and this site is great! I don't know where the information of a "fry cook" came from, but I would consider myself anything else but that :) A NYC girl originally, lived in London and Canada where I am now. Met lots of interesting people along life's way who taught me a great deal and enriched my life with their knowledge of cooking. With my children now adults, the family has doubled in size and my commitment to making memories to pass down to another generation inspires me to cooking. I find cooking a creative expression of one's personality and never tire of new challenges in the kitchen.
