Questions & Replies

  1. I love the simplicity of this, but would like to convert it to not cooking in a crock pot all day. I tried turning up the heat... and toasted it. Does anyone have suggestions to successfully convert this to stove-top pot?

  2. So you need to chill overnight before reheating and adding the dairy? I doubt many do this step as that would be a 2 day recipe, but I'm sure that it adds much depth to the flavor.

  1. This has to be one of the easiest "from scratch" soups I've ever made. Followed the instructions pretty much completely -- used Hanover Frozen Sweet Corn (thawed) because fresh corn wasn't available and I don't care for canned. When it came to the blending step, I was able to use my Braun hand blender * right in the crockpot *, and then proceed. Didn't even have to dirty another dish! * The end result was tasty, but was missing some flavor or richness I couldn't quite put my finger on. Next time I do this recipe, I'm going to try half and half or at least some heavy cream, and perhaps add a bit of bacon or some other flavoring toward the end. * Excellent method, thank you so much for sharing!

  2. Wow! Made this the night before and in the morning just plugged it in. This was unbelievably easy and taste great. Even my daughter's friends enjoyed the leftovers. Next time, I will add some shredded chicken. Will definately making this again.

  3. Simple and good. I didn't have mace so used nutmeg and some fresh parsley.

  4. A great easy to do chowder. Love using the crock pot as well. I added a bit of hot sauce to this while it was cooking. I like to spice up just about everything!! This would make a terrific soup for a vegitarian starter by using veggie broth instead of chicken broth. My vegitarian friends will enjoy this. Thanks for posting Bluenoser
