Drunk Cornbread

"Something I created for a movie night and have loved ever since. If there's any left to reheat, toast until the outside is crunchy for an amazing snack! This is not low-fat or healthy in any way but I'm sure some of you could make it work! :)"

  • 2 (8 ounce) boxes cornbread mix
  • 1 (16 ounce) bottle beer (your choice, I used Miller High Life because I'm just that classy)
  • 1 egg
  • 12 cup green onion, chopped
  • 12 lb hot sausage, browned and crumbled
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (I used Sriracha)

directions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix the cornbread mix and egg together. Stir in enough beer for the mix to be lumpy but not dry. Toss in the rest of the ingredients until everything is covered with cornbread mix. If it doesn't look wet enough, add more beer. If it looks fine, do with the remaining beer what you will. Place into a bread pan of your choice and cover will aluminium foil. Place in oven and cook for a minimum of 30 minutes. Check with toothpick for doneness and if cooked, removed foil and place back in oven for a few minutes, to brown the top of the bread.
